The renowned Ligurian sauce prepared raw, preserves and enhances the taste and fragrance of the ingredients it is made of, such as the extra virgin olive oil and basil genovese p.d.o. Pesto is used to dress pasta, traditionally trofie and trenette, but it is also great for seasoning lasagna and gnocchi. After straining pasta, put it in a large serving bowl and pour over the pesto ligure, some extra virgin olive oil and Parmesan cheese and enjoy! You can add a teaspoon of pesto ligure to home made vegetable soup for a delicious basil flavour.
