Porta Rossa 1996 Barolo Riserva

Deep garnet with brick-red hues. Very pure nose with aroma reminiscent of dried roses, roasted chestnuts, hints of dark chocolate and balmy spices, nutmeg and hints of dried aromatic herbs, under wood and black truffle. Full-bodied with finely grained tannins and vibrant acidity, offering flavors of dried fruit, earth, and a hint of tobacco. The finish is long and elegant. Not recommended to decanter a wine of this age. Letting it stand upright for 24 hours before serving will be sufficient to ensure that the sediment has settled naturally. This wine will pair well with roasted red meats, game meats, mature cheeses and mushroom based dishes, hard cheeses and charcuterie.
